Student Jens Wiersma is The Best Ping Pong Player of Haarlem
Last weekend the first edition of The Best Ping Pong Player of Haarlem was organized. No fewer than 130 Haarlem residents had registered for the event. After three days of struggle, Victor Kastelein, Jens Wiersma, JP Haarlem and Oscar de Bock were the big winners.
Jens Wiersma was able to beat Nard Koppen in the final of the Ripperda class, the advanced category, with force majeure. The student of Sports Sciences at InHolland in Haarlem can therefore call themselves The Best Ping Pong Player of Haarlem. Jens: "It is an honor to be able to bear this title, especially given the strong field of participants. I especially enjoyed participating."
Victor Kastelein managed to win the title in the "ordinary" talent class, the Kenauklasse. Victor: "I used to play a lot of table tennis, but not in the last few years. That could also be seen during the qualifying session. Fortunately, things went back to normal on the final day." The competition for De Hardste Smash van Haarlem was won by Oscar de Bock. He hit no less than 113 km/h and thus managed to keep his father, 104 km/h, just behind him.
In addition to the individual prizes, there was also a competition for the title "The Best Ping Pong Company of Haarlem". The "companies" Van der Aar Gardens, 2Basics, Paulus Mavo, Olympia Employment Agency, Nouris security, De Heer & Partners and JP Haarlem had registered with one or more teams. JP Haarlem, for example, also participated with several teams and won their "3rd" the coveted title. Captain Victor's victory in the Kenauklasse yielded just enough points to keep De Heer & Partners behind him.
The award ceremony of De Beste Pingponger in Haarlem was done by the alderman for sport, Merijn Snoek. The alderman: "It is nice to see that from a collaboration of several associations such a fun tournament is created that immediately attracts so many participants. I am already looking forward to the next edition and expect to participate myself.
The organization thanks those who made this fantastic event possible, namely the sponsors Van der Aar Tuinen, OfficeCity office furniture, Sport Europe table tennis specialist, Nouris Security, A Business Website and the two table tennis associations TTV Spaarne and TSTZ Haarlem.
